Students Allegedly Wash BJP Corporator’s Feet in Pune School
In a school in Pune, India, students were said to have washed the feet of a local politician from the BJP party during a religious celebration called Guru Purnima.
A leader from the NCP party, Amol Pardeshi, said this was wrong and asked for a fair investigation.
He said schools should teach learning, not worship people.
The school and the city council have not yet said anything about what happened.
The incident shows how some people worry that schools might turn into places where people are treated like gods instead of learning about science and the Constitution.
Students at a Pune Municipal Corporation school allegedly washed the feet of BJP corporator Varsha Bhimrao Sathe during a Guru Purnima event.
The incident occurred at the PMC school in Sukhsagar Nagar, Pune, drawing criticism from NCP-SP leader Amol Pardeshi.
Pardeshi demanded an impartial inquiry, calling the act a violation of constitutional values and a tarnish to education.
No official statement has yet been released by the school administration or PMC authorities.
