Jharkhand students reject 98% demand claim; only 3 exams cancelled
Many students in a place called Jharkhand, in India, are unhappy because they say the government cheated when it held exams to give people jobs.
The students asked the government to cancel 13 exams and investigate what happened.
The government made a group to talk to the students, and that group said it agreed with almost all of the students' requests.
But the students say that is not true—they say the government only cancelled 3 out of the 13 exams.
The students want a big, fair investigation by a national agency called the CBI.
The government wants a local police group called the CID to look into it, but the students say CID is known for cover-ups.
The students are planning a peaceful walk to the state assembly on August 10 and are asking everyone for support.
Six students are on a hunger strike, meaning they are not eating, to show how serious they are.
The protesters say their movement is non-violent and they want to stop a 'job-selling system' in Jharkhand.
A Jharkhand government panel claimed 98 per cent of agitating students' demands were met, a claim students called 'full of lies.'
Students said the government cancelled only 3 of the 13 competitive exams they want scrapped over alleged recruitment irregularities.
Protesters are demanding a CBI probe into all state-conducted exams and reject a CID probe, which one leader said is 'known for cover-ups.'
Students have called for a 'Vidhan Sabha March' on August 10 and appealed to political parties, parents and the public to join them.
The protest entered its 16th day with six students on hunger strike, as demonstrators pledged to keep the agitation peaceful and non-violent.
