Government Surpasses Three-Quarters of FY27 Capital Receipts Target

Government Surpasses Three-Quarters of FY27 Capital Receipts Target

The government planned to raise ₹80,000 crore during FY27 by selling some shares and assets.

It has already collected more than ₹62,000 crore in the first five months.

Most of this money came from selling parts of its ownership in public companies.

The Life Insurance Corporation of India provided the largest amount, at more than ₹35,000 crore.

The government also earned money by selling or monetising assets.

It may raise much more if the proposed sale of a 60.72% stake in IDBI Bank is completed.

Fairfax Financial Holdings has reportedly made a bid for that stake.

More share sales could happen later, depending on market conditions.
