Police Stop OBC Protest March to MP Assembly
Some people from the OBC community in Madhya Pradesh wanted to march to the state assembly to ask for more job opportunities reserved for their community.
The government had promised to reserve 27% of jobs for them, but only 14% are actually being filled.
The protesters were stopped by the police, who used water cannons to make them go away.
The protesters said they would keep fighting for their rights and might even take their case to the High Court if the government doesn't listen to them.
Some political leaders said the government is causing trouble by not giving the OBC community what they deserve.
OBC Mahasabha activists attempted to march to the Madhya Pradesh assembly to demand full 27% quota implementation.
Police used water cannons to stop the protesters after some climbed over barricades.
The protesters also demanded the withdrawal of the 13% quota hold and completion of pending recruitment processes.
Opposition leader Umang Singhar accused the BJP government of creating divisions among communities.
The 27% OBC quota increase, announced in 2018, remains legally contested.
