Plea Challenges Manan Kumar Mishra’s Long Tenure As BCI Chair

Plea Challenges Manan Kumar Mishra’s Long Tenure As BCI Chair

A lawyer has asked the Supreme Court to examine how long Manan Kumar Mishra has led the Bar Council of India.

The lawyer says Mishra’s extended time in the position may not be legal.

The petition also asks the court to remove him from the post.

Mishra was first elected chairman in 2012.

He briefly stopped being chairman in 2014.

He returned to the position in November of that year.

The petition says he has stayed in the role ever since.

The Supreme Court will consider the legal challenge according to the filing.
