Trump invites Petro to White House after tensions
U.S. President Donald Trump and Colombian President Gustavo Petro had a phone call to talk about their disagreements.
They discussed the drug problem and other issues between their countries.
Petro asked to restart their talks, and Trump said they might meet at the White House soon.
This comes after Trump had said some not-so-nice things about Petro and even talked about possible military action.
But now, they seem to be trying to be more friendly.
There have been some big problems between them, like the U.S. saying Colombia isn't doing enough to stop drugs and even putting sanctions on Petro.
Petro isn't happy about some things the U.S. is doing, like bombing boats they think are carrying drugs.
But they're trying to work things out now.
U.S. President Donald Trump and Colombian President Gustavo Petro held a phone call to discuss tensions and future meetings.
Petro requested a restart of dialogue, and Trump invited him to the White House for a meeting.
Trump had previously accused Petro of enabling drug trafficking and even suggested military action.
The U.S. imposed sanctions on Petro and his family in October over drug trade allegations.
Colombia has denied the accusations and criticized U.S. strikes on suspected drug boats.
