IndiGo Hits Record Market Share Amid Air India Capacity Cuts
IndiGo, an Indian airline, reached its highest market share ever in June 2025, carrying the most passengers compared to other months this year.
Meanwhile, Air India, another airline, had its lowest number of passengers this year and announced it would reduce its flights both within India and internationally.
This is because Air India lost a lot of money and is planning to cut back on its operations until September.
Another airline, Akasa Air, also improved its market share and is growing quickly.
All these changes are happening because of problems in the Middle East, which affects the airlines' international flights.
IndiGo achieved a record market share of 66.3% in June 2025.
IndiGo carried 8.92 million passengers in June, the highest this year.
Air India carried 3.22 million passengers in June, the lowest this year.
Air India reported a revenue loss of over Rs 26,000 crore in FY25 and is downsizing operations until September.
Akasa Air improved its market share to 6.4% and has the highest passenger load factor of 92.2%.
