Hindu groups protest Muslim admissions at Jammu medical college
Some Hindu groups are very upset because most of the students selected for a medical college in Jammu are Muslim.
The college is funded by donations from Hindu devotees, and the groups want the college to give priority to Hindu students.
They have been protesting and want the admission list to be changed.
The groups say the college should follow Hindu principles and not give benefits to the Muslim majority.
The protests have been led by many different Hindu organizations, and they have even asked the government to make sure only Hindu students are admitted.
The government says that admissions should be based on merit, not religion.
Hindu rights groups are protesting the selection of 42 Muslim candidates for MBBS seats at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College in Jammu.
The groups demand that the admission list be changed to prioritize Hindu students, as the college is funded by Hindu donations.
Protests have been led by various Hindu organizations, including Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti, Sanatan Dharma Sabha, and Jammu Kashmir Sanatan Samaj Nyas.
The groups allege that the college's policies do not align with the 'spiritual and cultural sentiments of the Hindu community' and demand an account of donations given to the shrine board.
The BJP submitted a memorandum to the J&K Lieutenant Governor, asking to limit admissions to Hindu students and overseen by the National Medical Commission (NMC).
