MCD Survey Finds Widespread Safety Gaps in Delhi PGs

MCD Survey Finds Widespread Safety Gaps in Delhi PGs

The Municipal Corporation of Delhi checked 2,453 paying guest buildings.

These buildings were located across all 12 parts of the city covered by the corporation.

Only 31 buildings had a fire safety permission from the Delhi Fire Service.

That is about 1.2 percent of the buildings checked.

Fewer than 30 percent had approved building plans.

Only eight buildings had a structural safety certificate.

The inspection came after a five-storey boys hostel collapsed in Satya Niketan.

Seven people died in that collapse, and the Delhi High Court responded on September 7.
