Why Do Legs Cramp at Night?
Night-time leg cramps are sudden, painful muscle contractions that often happen while you're sleeping.
They usually affect the calf muscles but can also occur in the feet or thighs.
These cramps can last from a few seconds to several minutes and might leave your muscles sore for hours.
Common causes include muscle fatigue from overuse, not drinking enough water, sitting or standing for too long, pregnancy, certain medical conditions, and some medications.
To prevent cramps, stay hydrated, stretch your muscles before bed, avoid staying in one position for too long, and wear supportive shoes.
If you experience frequent or severe cramps, especially with other symptoms like muscle weakness or swelling, you should see a doctor.
