Indosol Solar to Launch India’s Only Operational Ingot Plant
Indosol Solar is building a large solar equipment factory in Andhra Pradesh.
The factory will make silicon ingots and wafers, which are important parts of solar panels.
It will also make solar cells and modules.
Production is expected to begin next month.
The company says this could become India’s only operating ingot plant.
India may require more solar parts to be made domestically from 2028.
Indosol also wants to sell wafers to American solar companies.
It expects the United States to need more non-Chinese wafers than it can produce itself.
Indosol Solar will inaugurate a ₹3,000-crore ingot-cum-wafer plant at Ramayapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, next month.
The facility will initially create a 1.2 GW integrated capacity for ingots, cells and modules.
The company aims to expand integrated capacity to 10 GW, eventually reaching 20 GW across ingots, wafers, cells and modules.
Indosol is preparing early for India’s expected wafer-localisation requirement, due to begin in June 2028.
