FDA Inspects MANIT Hostels After Students Fall Ill
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) checked two hostels at MANIT in Bhopal because many students got sick with vomiting and diarrhoea.
They found some problems like spider webs in the kitchen, dirty water, and missing food safety papers.
The FDA took samples of food and water to test them.
The hostel management said they had cleaned the water tanks and changed the filters, but the FDA still found some issues.
The water had some tiny black particles, and the total dissolved solids (TDS) level was measured at 118mg/L.
The catering agency in the hostels also didn't have a proper food licence.
FDA inspected Hostels 9 and 11 at MANIT after students reported illness.
Alleged hygiene lapses included spider webs, poor housekeeping, and incomplete food safety documents.
Food and water samples were collected from both hostels for testing.
Water samples showed TDS level of 118mg/L and contained black particles.
Catering agency allegedly did not possess a valid food licence.
