Nepal Seeks Global Aid After Himalayan Flash Flood Damage

Nepal Seeks Global Aid After Himalayan Flash Flood Damage

A very large flash flood hit parts of Nepal.

The water carried mud, rocks, and debris and moved extremely quickly.

Some waves were described as being 60 to 70 feet high.

Towns, villages, roads, and homes were destroyed or cut off.

Nepal says more than 20,000 homes must be rebuilt.

Some villages may need to move to safer places.

Up to 1,300 people have been confirmed dead, and 5,500 are still missing.

Nepal is asking other countries and the United Nations for more money.

The government says richer countries that produce more greenhouse gases should help vulnerable countries pay for climate-related disasters.
