Ganpati Sthapana 2026: Home Installation Guide, Timings And Rituals
Ganpati Sthapana is the ceremony of bringing Lord Ganesha’s idol home and placing it in a worship area.
Ganesh Chaturthi is being celebrated on September 14, 2026.
Families should clean the area and prepare a decorated platform before the puja.
The best time for the main installation and prayer is from 11:02 AM to 1:31 PM.
The idol should be placed carefully so it stays stable.
Families light a lamp, say prayers, and offer flowers, grass, fruits and modaks.
The ceremony ends with aarti, after which prasad may be shared.
Some families immerse the idol after one-and-a-half, three, five, seven or 10 days, while others follow their own traditions.
Ganesh Chaturthi is being observed on Monday, September 14, 2026, with devotees installing Lord Ganesha idols at homes and community pandals.
The Madhyahna Ganesh Puja Muhurat for sthapana is from 11:02 AM to 1:31 PM, lasting 2 hours and 28 minutes.
The home ritual involves preparing a clean worship space, covering a chowki, arranging a kalash and securely placing the idol.
Devotees then perform sankalp, invoke Lord Ganesha, offer flowers, durva, sweets and naivedya, and conclude with aarti.
Those following the traditional moon-sighting restriction are advised to avoid looking at the Moon from 9:01 AM to 8:08 PM; visarjan dates vary by family tradition.
