High Court to Hear PIL Seeking CBI Probe Into LPU Violence

A university in Punjab saw protests after reports of an alleged sexual assault involving a female student.

The protests later became violent.

Reports said that property was damaged and campus shops were allegedly looted.

Police have opened a criminal case to investigate what happened.

The sexual assault allegation has not yet been proven.

A group has asked the High Court to let the Central Bureau of Investigation investigate the violence.

The court has agreed to hear the request on Wednesday.

It has not yet ordered a CBI investigation.

The university also stopped classes and other academic activities for 10 days.
