Central Employees Seek Threefold Dussehra Bonus Ceiling Increase

Central Employees Seek Threefold Dussehra Bonus Ceiling Increase

Central government employees want the rule for calculating their festival bonus changed.

They are asking for the maximum wage used in the calculation to rise from ₹7,000 to ₹21,000 per month.

This could increase bonus payments for eligible employees.

The request was made before Dussehra, when bonus orders are usually issued.

The employees’ council says the central minimum wage is now ₹21,000.

A Labour Ministry notification says calculations use ₹7,000 or the central minimum wage, whichever is higher.

The notification is described as applying from November 21, 2025.

Officials previously said that changing the ceiling would require a formal legal revision.

The government’s final decision on the request is not stated.
