Activist Flags Yamuna Floodplain Encroachment Near Wazirabad
Some land near the Yamuna River is being used in ways that could damage the environment.
An activist has reported that a road and a construction site are taking up space on the floodplain, which could cause problems.
The activist is asking the government to fix the situation.
The Delhi Metro says they have permission for their construction, which includes a casting yard, and are following all the rules to protect the environment.
However, the activist also noted the dumping of waste and soil that takes up space on the floodplain.
An environmental activist reported encroachment of Yamuna floodplains near Wazirabad Barrage.
A road, approximately 5 kilometers long, was built from Wazirabad crematoria to the eastern embankment.
A metro casting yard is allegedly occupying 13 acres of the floodplains.
