UK Weather Alert: Storm Claudia Prompts Amber Warning for Heavy Rain
A big storm named Claudia is bringing a lot of rain to parts of the UK.
The weather experts have put out a special alert because some places might get as much rain in one day as they normally get in a whole month!
This could cause flooding.
There will also be strong winds in some areas, especially in the northwest.
For other parts of the UK, the weather will be a bit calmer, with some sunny spells but also colder temperatures.
The rain is expected to move across the country starting today and continuing into Friday and Saturday.
Storm Claudia is forecast to bring heavy and persistent rain to central and southern England and Wales.
The Met Office has issued an amber warning, with some areas potentially receiving over 150mm of rain in 24 hours.
Gusty winds of 60-70mph are possible in exposed areas of northwest England and Wales.
Flood alerts and warnings are in place for parts of Scotland, including Fife, Central, and southern areas.
The UK can expect a wet start in Northern Ireland, southern Scotland, and northern England, with colder conditions and showers in northern Scotland.
