Rohit Sharma on India's 13-Year ICC Title Drought
Rohit Sharma, the former captain of the Indian cricket team, talked about why India didn't win any big ICC trophies for 13 years.
He thinks that the fear of failing might have stopped the team from doing their best.
India last won a major trophy in 2011, and then again in 2024 under Rohit's leadership.
He said that to overcome this fear, he gave his team freedom and clear roles.
Rohit also shared that after the 2019 World Cup, where he scored a lot of runs but India didn't win, he decided to focus more on winning trophies than on individual performances.
He believes that winning trophies is what really matters in a cricket career.
India's last ICC title before 2024 was the 2011 ODI World Cup, with the next being the 2024 T20 World Cup under Rohit Sharma's captaincy.
Rohit Sharma attributes the 13-year title drought to a potential fear of failure among the team's elite batters.
To combat this, Rohit and coach Rahul Dravid focused on giving players freedom and clarity in their roles.
The 2019 ODI World Cup was a turning point for Rohit, who realized that individual stats matter less than winning trophies.
Rohit emphasized the importance of winning campaigns over individual performances in defining a successful cricket career.
