Wind Farm Developer Sues Trump Administration Over Blocked Project
The US government, previously under Trump, is being sued by a wind farm developer and states.
The developer, Orsted, and the states of Rhode Island and Connecticut are fighting against the government's decision to stop a nearly finished wind farm project.
They say the government is acting against the wind energy industry.
The government paused work on the project because of national security concerns.
The developer says that they should be able to move forward with the project, with all underwater foundations and most of the turbines already installed.
Some officials express worries that wind farms could interfere with radar systems, potentially allowing for a drone attack, but others strongly disagree with that claim.
Orsted, Rhode Island, and Connecticut are suing the Trump administration to unblock the Revolution Wind project.
The Revolution Wind project, nearly complete, could power 350,000 homes.
The Bureau of Ocean Energy Management paused the project on August 22 due to national security concerns.
Officials have expressed worries that wind turbines could hinder radar systems.
DOD had previously determined that impact of wind farm would be negligible and avoidable.
