Telangana HC Issues Key Orders on Police, Panchayat Polls
The Telangana High Court has told the state government and police recruitment boards to make a plan to fill over 14,000 empty police jobs.
This includes jobs for constables and sub-inspectors.
The court wants a detailed report on how many jobs are empty now and when they will be filled.
A man named Keethineedi Akhil Guruteja asked the court to do this because he thinks the police are too busy and need more help.
The court will check the plan on December 29.
The Supreme Court had earlier said that states should fill empty police jobs to keep people safe.
Additionally, the court stayed orders for Group-II recruitment and will hear petitions about reducing reservations for the BC community in panchayat polls on Friday.
Telangana High Court directed the state government and recruitment boards to submit a report on police vacancies and a plan to fill them.
The court noted that there are 14,935 vacant posts in the Telangana Police, including 11,713 Constable posts and 739 Sub-Inspector posts.
The court stayed a single judge’s orders that directed the TGPSC to issue appointment orders to eligible candidates in the Group-2 recruitment exams of 2016.
The court will hear petitions challenging the reduction of reservations for the BC community in the upcoming panchayat elections on Friday.
The court directed all parties involved in the Group-II recruitment stay to file their counter affidavits within six weeks.
