Rubio Orders Return to Times New Roman
Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, has told all U.S. diplomats to use Times New Roman font in their official communications again.
Before, they were using Calibri, a different font that some people thought was better for those with visual disabilities.
Rubio thinks Times New Roman looks more professional.
The change is part of a bigger effort to make all official communications look the same and professional.
Some people might find Calibri easier to read, but Rubio prefers the old font.
Some diplomats are unhappy with this and other changes, while traditionalists support the switch.
The order started right away, and every post received the new directive.
Marco Rubio ordered a return to Times New Roman for official State Department communications.
The previous font, Calibri, was adopted for accessibility reasons in January 2023.
Rubio claims Calibri is informal and that Times New Roman is more professional.
The change aligns with the President's directive for a unified, professional voice in communications.
Some studies suggest sans-serif fonts like Calibri are easier to read for those with certain visual disabilities.
