Security Tightened in Srinagar as J&K Assembly Session Begins
Security was increased around the J&K Assembly complex and Civil Secretariat in Srinagar as the autumn session began Monday.
The session is scheduled for September 21–30, with seven sittings and several listed holidays and off days.
Private vehicles belonging to Secretariat and Assembly employees, including deployed police personnel, were barred from entering the Secretariat premises.
Vehicles belonging to ministers, legislators and other senior officials must use designated parking areas, while accredited media vehicles require security checks.
Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather reviewed security and logistical arrangements as opposition parties said they would raise public concerns.
