NSUI Protest Demands Amit Shah Resignation Over Police Action
Students from the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) marched to a big square in Delhi called Jantar Mantar.
They were upset because the police used pellet guns on students during a protest called 'Sansad Chalo' on July 20.
The NSUI wanted the Home Minister, Amit Shah, to step down and asked who told the police to act.
Some NSUI members were stopped and taken to a police bus.
The protest also involved another group, the Cockroach Janta Party, which had been marching for 36 days.
That group ended its march after the Education Minister, Dharmendra Pradhan, quit and the government agreed to their demands.
The police had many officers hurt, about 118, and about 60 people were injured too.
The whole event shows how students and other groups can protest against police actions and ask for government changes.
NSUI staged a "Students' Justice March" to protest police use of pellet guns during the July 20 "Sansad Chalo" march, demanding Home Minister Amit Shah's resignation.
NSUI workers were detained and blocked at a roundabout before reaching Jantar Mantar, with heavy police deployment and Rapid Action Force present.
NSUI president Vinod Jakhar questioned who ordered the police action and called for accountability.
The Cockroach Janta Party's 36‑day "Sansad Chalo" protest ended on July 25 after Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan resigned and the government accepted its demands.
The protest at Jantar Mantar saw 118 police officers injured and about 60 protesters involved.
