Nepal Floods Prompt LDCs to Demand Urgent Climate Finance

Nepal recently experienced deadly floods linked to a glacier rock avalanche.

These floods showed how climate change can create serious dangers in Himalayan communities.

Nepal is one of 44 Least Developed Countries that work together at global climate meetings.

The countries met in Timor-Leste before the next UN climate summit, called COP31.

They asked richer and larger-emitting countries to reduce pollution faster.

They also want more money to help vulnerable countries prepare for climate disasters.

They said this money should be easy to access and mostly provided as grants.

The group wants COP31 to address damage that countries cannot prevent.

Nepal has also asked for immediate help and compensation for the flood damage.
