Delhi High Court Upholds MCD Teachers’ 30-Year Age Limit

Delhi High Court Upholds MCD Teachers’ 30-Year Age Limit

Poonam Patwal wanted to become a primary teacher with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi.

She was older than the usual maximum age of 30.

She argued that a 1980 rule gave women an extra 10 years to apply for teaching jobs.

The court said that rule was made for Delhi government schools, not automatically for MCD jobs.

MCD has its own recruitment rules.

Although Patwal scored enough marks and took the exam, she still had to meet the age requirement.

The court also said that taking an exam does not guarantee a job.

Therefore, the court rejected her request and kept the 30-year age limit in place.
