Maharashtra Leaders Clash Over Corruption
In Maharashtra, a minister from the BJP has asked Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar to stop criticizing his allies during the civic elections.
Pawar had accused the BJP of corruption and mismanagement in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, which are going to have elections soon.
The BJP and Pawar's party, the NCP, are part of the same ruling alliance but are competing against each other in some areas.
The minister said that all parties had agreed not to criticize each other, but Pawar broke this rule.
He advised Pawar to be more careful in the future.
The BJP is upset because Pawar's comments could hurt their image, but they can't easily criticize him because they brought him into the alliance despite past allegations.
Maharashtra Minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule advises Deputy CM Ajit Pawar to observe restraint in civic poll campaign.
Pawar criticizes BJP for corruption and mismanagement in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad civic bodies.
BJP and NCP are part of the ruling Mahayuti alliance but are fighting separately in some municipal corporations.
BJP president Ravindra Chavan warns Pawar to introspect before making allegations and regrets the alliance.
Polls for 29 municipal corporations, including Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad, are scheduled for January 15.
