Jharkhand student protests win exam cancellation, still demand CBI probe

Many students in the Indian state of Jharkhand want government jobs, but they believed the big tests used to pick people were not fair.

Some said the exam papers were leaked and there was cheating, so the students decided to protest.

They gathered at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi and refused to leave day after day.

The leader of the state, Hemant Soren, listened and cancelled one of the tests, called the JSSC-CGL.

He also said detectives called the CID will look into exams from the past many years, and a committee will make future tests safer and fairer.

But the students said that was not enough and asked for the CBI, a bigger national investigating team.

On 10 August, police used sticks on the students and many were hurt, but they kept protesting.

The students were polite and did not abuse the Chief Minister or his family.

They also refused to let political groups take over their movement, even pushing one leader off the stage.

Their main wish is simple: every student should get a fair chance to get a job.
