Karnataka Approves Rs 2,215-cr Hebbal-Mehkri Tunnel Corridor
The Karnataka government has approved a big road project to help with traffic in Bengaluru.
This project will build a tunnel and elevated road between Hebbal Junction and Mehkri Circle.
It costs Rs 2,215 crore and is meant to help all kinds of vehicles, including two-wheelers and auto-rickshaws.
The government chose this plan because widening existing roads is too difficult.
Most of the land needed is already owned by the government, so it won't be too hard to build.
This project is part of a bigger plan to make traffic better in Bengaluru, especially for people going to the airport.
Karnataka government approved a Rs 2,215-crore tunnel-elevated corridor from Hebbal Junction to Mehkri Circle.
The project aims to address traffic congestion and include all vehicle categories, unlike the previous twin-tunnel plan.
Land acquisition costs are minimal at Rs 25 crore as most of the route lies on government-owned land.
The project was recommended by the Bengaluru Traffic Police to alleviate congestion in densely populated areas.
The corridor is part of a larger mobility strategy to connect the city center to emerging suburban belts.
