Telangana to Conduct Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls
The Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, announced that Telangana will have a special check and update of its voter list, called the Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
He talked to the officers who work at the local voting booths, called Booth Level Officers (BLOs), in Hyderabad.
He asked them to make sure this update goes smoothly and to take the successful SIR process in Bihar as a benchmark.
Each BLO in Telangana will be responsible for about 930 voters during this process.
The CEC also mentioned that India has over 90 crore voters and is recognized as a reliable election management body worldwide.
This is important to keep the voter list accurate and up-to-date.
However, there are controversies in other states like Gujarat, Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh regarding the SIR process, with accusations of political implications and pressure on BLOs.
