Calcutta Students Plant First Miyawaki Forest, Aiming for Greener City
Imagine a special way to plant trees that makes them grow super fast, like a competition!
That's what the Miyawaki method does.
In a city called Calcutta, a group called SIP Academy organized a special day where over 100 students helped plant almost 3,000 baby trees in a park called Subhas Sarovar.
They planted fruit trees, pretty flowers, and plants that can be used as medicine.
The students were excited to help make their city greener because they see a lot of buildings and not enough trees.
This project helps them learn how to plant trees and take care of them, hoping to make Calcutta a more beautiful and healthy place for everyone.
SIP Academy launched Calcutta's first Miyawaki forest project at Subhas Sarovar, named 'Let us re-forest'.
The event involved 120 students from different city schools planting 2,900 saplings.
Students planted 800 of the saplings, including fruit, flowering, and medicinal varieties.
The Miyawaki method involves planting trees closely together to encourage faster growth.
SIP Academy aims to establish 50 Miyawaki forests in the region within the next decade.
