Kerala High Court Denies Interim Relief to Ex-DGP Thachankary

Kerala High Court Denies Interim Relief to Ex-DGP Thachankary

The Kerala High Court heard an appeal by former police chief Tomin J Thachankary.

He was convicted in a case about allegedly owning more assets than his known income.

A lower court sentenced him to four years in prison and fined him Rs 30.84 lakh.

Thachankary asked the High Court to pause the sentence while it considers his appeal.

The High Court did not grant that temporary relief.

It gave the state two days to respond to his appeal.

Thachankary says investigators made mistakes in calculating his assets and income.

He also says important documents were not shown to the trial court.

The appeal will be heard again on September 24.
