Odisha Government Partners with Skymet for Weather Data Project
The Odisha government is teaming up with Skymet to get better weather information for farmers.
They are setting up special stations to measure the weather, like rain and temperature, all over the state.
This will help farmers plan their crops better, protect against bad weather, and make it easier to get insurance.
The government will pay for this using money from a program designed to help farmers.
This new system will help farmers predict how their crops will grow.
This will help the farmers to grow multiple crops.
Odisha government signed an MoU with Skymet to implement the Weather Information Network Data System (WINDS) project.
The project aims to improve weather data accessibility and enhance risk management.
Automatic Weather Stations (AWS) and Automatic Rain Gauges (ARG) will be installed across the state.
The project will be jointly implemented by the AG&FE Department and the Revenue & Disaster Management Department.
Funding will be sourced from the PMFBY budget.
