Top 10 Canadian Cities with Highest Safety Concerns in 2026
Canada Visa made a list of the top 10 cities in Canada where people feel the least safe in 2026.
They used surveys to find out how safe people feel in their daily lives, not just police reports.
Surrey is number one because of extortion threats.
Other cities like Lethbridge and Sudbury have problems with theft and feeling unsafe at night.
The list shows that even though Canada is generally safe, some cities have more safety concerns than others.
The rankings are based on what people feel, not just crime numbers.
This helps people understand how safe different cities are compared to each other.
Canada Visa released a ranking of Canadian cities with the highest safety concerns in 2026 based on survey data.
Surrey ranks first with a Crime Index of 64.4 and a Safety Index of 35.6 due to extortion threats.
Lethbridge and Sudbury rank second and third, respectively, with concerns about property crime and nighttime safety.
Kelowna and Winnipeg also rank high, with issues related to tourism, nightlife, and specific crime hotspots.
Brampton ranks tenth, influenced by vehicle theft, extortion-linked gun violence, and rapid growth pressures.
