Madras High Court Grants Wife Rs 2.5 Crore Alimony

The Madras High Court ended a marriage that it said could not be repaired.

The couple had been married since 2011 and had two children.

The wife had stayed with her parents while caring for the children and supporting the husband’s studies.

The husband later became a successful professional and wanted to change their living arrangement.

The couple disagreed, and the court said their relationship had broken down.

The husband must pay Rs 1.5 crore to his wife.

He must also set aside Rs 50 lakh for each child until they become adults.

The court said caring for a home and family is valuable work for both women and men.

It also said the divorce will become effective only after the money is paid.
