Bihar Electoral Roll Revision: Phase 1 Complete, Millions Face Removal
The government in Bihar is updating the list of people who can vote.
This process is called Special Intensive Revision.
They have finished the first part and found that about 65.2 lakh names might need to be removed.
Some people have passed away, some have moved away, and others are registered more than once.
Almost everyone in Bihar who can vote has been checked.
If someone was missed, they can still be added to the list later.
Political parties can also help make sure the list is correct by objecting to names that shouldn't be there.
Bihar completes the first phase of Special Intensive Revision (SIR).
Around 65.2 lakh voters are likely to be removed from the electoral roll.
Reasons for removal include death, relocation, and duplicate enrollment.
The Election Commission reports 99.8% of electors covered under the SIR.
