Maharashtra Seeks Statewide Status of Blood Storage Units

Maharashtra Seeks Statewide Status of Blood Storage Units

Maharashtra wants to know which blood storage units are working and which are not.

The State Blood Transfusion Council asked blood centres to share this information and copies of their licences.

They were given three days to reply.

The request follows inspections by the state’s Food and Drug Administration.

The article says 34 licences were suspended and four were permanently cancelled between April and June 2026.

Inspections found problems with blood storage, records, waste disposal and equipment.

Centres without a storage unit must say so in a Nil report.

The information may help the state update its list of storage facilities.
