UP 2027 Polls: BJP Allies Seek More Assembly Seats

UP 2027 Polls: BJP Allies Seek More Assembly Seats

Two political parties in Uttar Pradesh are asking the Bharatiya Janata Party for more seats in the 2027 state election.

The parties are the Nishad Party and the Suheldev Bharatiya Samaj Party.

They say they can help the alliance win seats where the BJP has struggled before.

Sanjay Nishad also wants Scheduled Caste status for the Nishad community.

He said his party will stay with the BJP instead of joining opposition parties.

O.P. Rajbhar said his party wants 25 seats, compared with 16 in the 2022 election.

A BJP leader said the Nishad Party already has significant representation and has won several seats.

The parties are negotiating how much influence each should have in the alliance.
