Nations Issue Pride Statement, US Absent
Imagine different countries getting together to say they support everyone, no matter who they love or how they identify.
They released a statement on Pride Day to show they care about LGBTQ+ rights.
Countries like Canada, Brazil and many in Europe signed it, but the U.S. did not.
The statement said that treating LGBTQ+ people unfairly is wrong.
It seems the U.S. has changed its mind about supporting these rights recently.
Canada, Brazil, Australia, and European nations issued a statement supporting LGBT rights.
The statement was released to coincide with Pride Day.
The US was not among the signatories of the statement.
The statement condemned violence, criminalization, stigmatization, and discrimination against LGBTQI people.
The US has reversed its course on LGBT rights under Trump.
