ISRO Targets Six More Launches After EOS-05 Success
India’s space agency, ISRO, successfully sent a new Earth-observation satellite into space.
The satellite is called EOS-05 and weighs 2,367 kilograms.
It is intended to watch India and nearby areas continuously from a high orbit.
ISRO Chief V Narayanan said the satellite was placed precisely in its required orbit and is healthy.
He said ISRO plans to conduct six more launches during this financial year.
ISRO is also preparing Gaganyaan, a mission designed for human spaceflight.
The agency says important safety and development work for Gaganyaan has already been completed.
A new launch pad in Kulasekarapattinam is expected to be ready by March next year.
ISRO successfully launched the 2,367-kilogram EOS-05 Earth observation satellite aboard the GSLV-F17 rocket.
EOS-05 was injected into its intended orbit and is planned to provide continuous monitoring of India and nearby areas.
The mission is described as India’s first dedicated imaging satellite from geosynchronous orbit.
ISRO Chief V Narayanan said six more launches are targeted during the current financial year.
Gaganyaan preparations and the Kulasekarapattinam launch pad are progressing, with the pad expected to be ready by March next year.
