Kolkata Biology Teacher Balances Tutoring With Family Phuchka Business
A man in Kolkata has two jobs.
During the day, he teaches biology to students.
In the evening, he helps run his family’s phuchka stall.
He studied biology and once wanted a career in the military or a company.
He began tutoring after seeing that children needed affordable science lessons.
His business and teaching help support his two sons and family.
He was initially ashamed of selling phuchka, but later became well known and respected in his neighbourhood.
Now he hopes to open a coaching centre while continuing to oversee the stall.
A Kolkata biology tutor spends his days teaching and evenings selling phuchka through his family business.
The unnamed BSc Biology graduate once hoped to join the military or work for a corporate company.
He began tutoring students at an affordable coaching centre, eventually teaching learners from junior to senior classes.
His phuchka stall and teaching income have helped support his two sons and family.
After 16 years of balancing both roles, he hopes to open a coaching centre while continuing to oversee the stall.
