Mumbai Dabbawalas Seek Cycle Parking, Shelters, and Aid
The dabbawalas are a group of people in Mumbai who deliver home‑cooked meals on bicycles and trains.
On July 27 they met the city mayor and the municipal commissioner to ask for help.
They want special parking for their bicycles near train stations and shelters to keep them dry.
The mayor promised money and free medical care for workers who get hurt.
They also want the area outside Churchgate station to be officially marked as a visitor spot.
Dabbawala association met Mayor Ritu Tawde and Commissioner Ashwini Bhide on July 27.
They demanded dedicated cycle parking near railway stations.
They requested tin‑roofed shelters at key locations.
Mayor pledged Rs 25,000 financial aid and free medical treatment for injured workers.
The group also urged designation of Churchgate area as a visitor point.
