Govt Plans Blueprint to Revive Wind Energy Sector
The Indian government is working on a plan to help the wind energy sector grow again.
Right now, there are problems like not enough places to connect wind farms to the power grid, trouble buying land, and companies not signing agreements to buy wind energy.
The government wants to fix these problems and make wind energy stronger.
They also want to replace old wind farms with new ones.
Right now, India has 53 GW of wind energy, but they want to have 100 GW by 2030.
There are also concerns about protecting a special bird called the Great Indian Bustard, which could be hurt by wind turbines.
The government is talking to experts and companies to make a plan to solve these problems and make wind energy better in India.
The Union government is creating a blueprint to revive the wind energy sector by addressing key issues like grid connectivity, land acquisition, and unsigned PPAs.
A task force involving officials from MNRE, Power Ministry, and the wind energy industry will prepare a revival roadmap.
India aims to achieve 100 GW of wind power capacity by 2030, up from the current 53 GW.
Stalled wind energy projects worth ₹60,000 crore, making up 10 GW of the 43 GW in renewable energy capacity, await signed PPAs.
The government is considering repowering old wind plants, setting up a web portal for project tracking, and integrating wind energy into round-the-clock power strategies.
