Gujarat Gas and Waaree Energy Partner for Lithium-ion Battery Push
Gujarat Gas and Waaree Energy have made a deal to help India make its own lithium-ion batteries.
Gujarat Gas will give natural gas to Waaree Energy's new factory in Gujarat, which will make these batteries.
These batteries are important for electric cars and storing energy from the sun and wind.
India currently buys most of its batteries from other countries, but this deal will help India make more of its own, hopefully reducing the amount they need to import by 2027.
Waaree Energy had a good financial quarter, with its profits increasing.
Gujarat Gas signed a gas sales agreement with Waaree Energy.
The deal involves supplying piped natural gas (PNG) for Waaree Energy's lithium-ion cell manufacturing unit in Valsad, Gujarat.
The plant is expected to be commissioned in Q4 of FY25-26.
India aims to reduce its reliance on lithium-ion battery imports.
Waaree Energies reported a 20.3% jump in consolidated net profit for the April–June quarter.
