Telangana HC Seeks State's Response on Maternity Leave Cap
A woman working for the Telangana government has taken the state to court.
She believes the rules for maternity leave are unfair because they only give leave to women who have two or fewer children.
The court is asking the government to respond within a week, and the next hearing is scheduled for September 16, 2025.
The woman and her husband want the state to change its rules to be the same as in the nearby state of Andhra Pradesh.
Telangana High Court is reviewing the state's maternity leave policy.
A woman employee filed a petition against the existing policy.
The policy restricts maternity leave to women with two or fewer children.
The petitioner argues the policy is against the interests of mother and child.
The court has given the state one week to respond to the petition.
