Vijay Announces Major Desalination Plant and Urban Infrastructure Projects
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay announced many projects to improve city life.
The biggest project is a large plant that will turn seawater into drinking water.
It will supply water to north Chennai and nearby areas.
Avadi will also get water available all day and night.
Old sewer pipes, roads, parks and waste facilities will be improved in several cities.
The government plans to plant one crore saplings and create 250 parks.
People who pass driving tests will soon receive digital licences on the same day.
The government also said it would withdraw certain cases against protesting farmers and teachers.
Tamil Nadu announced a Rs 4,800 crore, 400-million-litres-per-day desalination plant at Minjur.
A Rs 500 crore scheme will provide round-the-clock water to every household in Avadi Corporation.
Madurai’s underground sewerage network will begin a Rs 2,400 crore modernisation project.
Urban road works will receive Rs 1,850 crore, while parks and sapling planting will receive Rs 305 crore.
Cases against farmers and teachers involved in peaceful protests between May 2021 and April 2026 will be withdrawn.
