Colostrum is newborn's first immunity shield, Warangal Collector urges breastfeeding

Colostrum is newborn's first immunity shield, Warangal Collector urges breastfeeding

A big health official in Warangal talked to mothers about why breast milk is so important for babies.

She said breast milk is like the baby's very first vaccine.

It helps protect newborns from getting sick.

The special first milk, called colostrum, gives babies extra power to fight germs.

She told mothers to start breastfeeding within the first hour after the baby is born.

For the first six months, babies should only drink breast milk.

After that, they can start eating other foods but should keep having breast milk too.

Breastfeeding also helps mothers recover faster and lowers their risk of some diseases.

The official also said mothers can share extra breast milk with milk banks to help other babies.
