IMD forecasts heavy rain in Tamil Nadu
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy rainfall in certain parts of Tamil Nadu over the next three days.
Areas like Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Theni are expected to receive intense showers, especially towards the end of the week.
The weather agency says this change is due to a weak trough in the atmosphere along the coast.
Moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds is expected in various parts of the state, including the Western Ghats and Puducherry.
The rainfall is likely to intensify from July 30, with heavy rain expected in isolated places in the Nilgiris, Coimbatore, and Theni districts.
Other parts of the state may experience light showers.
The wet spell is expected to continue on August 1, with heavy rainfall in Coimbatore, the Nilgiris, and Theni.
The IMD also mentioned that there won't be any significant change in maximum temperatures across Tamil Nadu and Puducherry until July 31.
For Chennai, the forecast includes partly cloudy skies, light rain, and thunderstorms, with daytime temperatures between 38 and 39 degrees Celsius and minimum temperatures between 29 and 30 degrees Celsius.
