Vance: cheap oil, not Iran's nukes, now top war priority

The United States is fighting a war with Iran.

Vice President JD Vance talked about the war on a TV show called Fox News.

He said the most important goal is to keep oil and gas cheap for Americans.

He said the second most important goal is to make sure Iran never gets a nuclear weapon.

This is different from what President Donald Trump used to say.

Trump used to say stopping Iran from getting a nuclear bomb was the main reason for the war.

The fight is centered on a very important waterway called the Strait of Hormuz, where many oil ships travel.

Iran closed the waterway, which made oil prices go up and gave it a strong position in the standoff.

Iran says it will only reopen the waterway if America ends the war, lifts sanctions and gives back frozen money.

Vance said oil is cheaper now than it was at the start of the fight, so keeping energy affordable comes first.
