SEBI Orders Rs 604 Crore Repayment from Pune Trader Avdhut Sathe
The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has taken action against a popular financial advisor named Avadhut Sathe and his company.
SEBI says they were giving investment advice without proper permission and made false claims about their success.
They collected a lot of money from people who signed up for their courses, but SEBI found out that most of these people actually lost money.
SEBI has now ordered them to stop their activities and pay back the money they earned illegally.
They also found that the success stories shown by the company were not true.
This is to protect people from being misled by such advisors.
SEBI has barred Avdhut Sathe, his wife, and their company ASTAPL from securities market dealings.
They must repay Rs 604 crore collected from over 337,000 participants through unregistered advisory services.
ASTAPL offered courses and trading recommendations without proper SEBI registration.
SEBI's investigation revealed that participants and the company itself incurred significant losses.
Promotional testimonials showcasing success stories were found to be exaggerated or false.
